Donna De Lory is a singer and songwriter whose voice and sound seem to transcend time and genre. Her music is a seamless blend of east and west, a beautiful hybrid of English lyrics and devotional Sanskrit mantras set to modern melodies. A longtime accompanying vocalist for Madonna (for two decades), Donna De Lory has also recorded with legendary artists including Santana, Julio Iglesias and Jewel. In concert, Donna performs a meditative blend of Sanskrit Chanting and Devotional Pop. She’s grounding, sublime and soulful with a voice that oscillates between passionate laments reminiscent of Janis Joplin and the crystal clarity of Enya.

With her new release Sanctuary, De Lory has crafted an expressive, spiritually-charged album that embraces both her passionate exploration of yoga and meditation inspired music. A devoted student of yoga and spiritual teachings, she is inspired not only by Western pop, but by Indian devotional music, Sanskrit mantras, Northern African grooves, psychedelic arrangements, and dance beats. The Los Angeles-based singer enjoys making what she calls “meditative music” that can smartly – and sensuously – lend itself to dance-friendly re-mixes and can heal through both contemplation and celebration.

Her five solo recordings blend various aspects of world music into shimmering pop landscapes which also cross over into the emerging realm of chant/kirtan releases, where she feels equally at home. Above all, it is Donna’s voice, fiery and passionate yet with a childlike innocence, that reaches people. And by rejoining Madonna’s recent world tour, and performing inspired solo gigs, she continues to reach enthusiastic new audiences from coast to coast.
