Mukti in Concert

Mukti is an ensemble of accomplished musicians whose spicy blend of tabla rhythms, flamenco guitar, harmonium, piano, and R&B-flavored vocals are breathing new life into the exploding world of kirtan.

Mukti, named after the Sanskrit word for the blissful peace that accompanies freedom from suffering, is the musical fusion of long-time flamenco guitarist Donald Fontowitz (Sol y Luna), tabla player Ramana Erickson, and ethereal vocalist Prajna Vieira. Bringing together a range of Eastern and Western musical instruments, Mukti presents new and classic kirtans infused with devotion and spiritual longing, driven by danceable beats.

“Our intention is to inspire peace, and everybody experiences peace in their own way. People will sing, dance, pray, and meditate. Kirtan is a spiritual practice — an opportunity to open to Divine Love, & no one is going to try and define that for you. It’s limitless. We all have our own special relationship with that Love, and the only question is, how deeply are you willing to be present to it?” said Prajna Vieira, vocals.
