Mukti is a band of spiritual seekers celebrating the love of the divine through music. Their lead singer, Prajna Vieira, has a voice that comes directly from Heaven, inspiring enthusiastic comparisons to Snatam Kaur, in both purity and presence.
Centered in kirtan, the Indian tradition of call-and-response devotional song, the music of Mukti is a cross-cultural melting pot, with creative and spiritual influences spanning the globe. The music of Mukti includes original songs and chants in Sanskrit and English as well as new arrangements of traditional kirtans.
“Our intention is to inspire peace, and everybody experiences peace in their own way. People will sing, dance, pray, and meditate. Kirtan is a spiritual practice — an opportunity to open to Divine Love, & no one is going to try and define that for you. It’s limitless. We all have our own special relationship with that Love, and the only question is, how deeply are you willing to be present to it?” said Prajna Vieira, vocals.
Whatever one’s spiritual beliefs may be, kirtan provides a sacred time and space for people to gather together and call out directly to the divine. While the roots of kirtan are in India, its appeal is universal; kirtan fans come from all backgrounds. In the same way that Americans have embraced yoga as a health‐giving physical practice, many find that kirtan gives them a taste of spiritual expansion and joy.
